Popular but bad advice that you should not follow.

Being selfish has a negative connotation. Part of cultivating a strong mindset is knowing your worth and the value that you bring to the table. Being selfish can be just the balance you need to establish a healthier, positive mindset that will allow you to experience better relationships.
Focusing on yourself helps you to recognize your worth and to develop a deeper appreciation for who you are. This in turn can help you to develop healthier relationships with yourself and with others. By being selfish, you’re not only able to take care of yourself, but you can also develop better relationships. It’s important to recognize your own needs and to be willing to put yourself first. A suggestion for you to pivot your mind into a positive mindset shift is that the happier and healthier you are the better you will be to others. The more energy you will have to give because you are not depleted with over-giving. The time people will have with you will be an optimized and high-value experience because you re able to be more present.
Are any of these your current mindset?
are you an over giver?
tend to be co-dependent?
always stepping away from your life to make your relationships work?
do you suppress your needs and always bend to others' wants and needs?
do you find yourself feeling resentful at work or in your personal life?
do you have people's pleasing tendencies and lack defining healthy boundaries?
If so, then you can definitely benefit from spending time being selfish. I was you for many years and even now I struggle to not over give and bend boundaries. If you are this type of person, I promise you, you will never land in the category of selfishness no matter how hard you try, so it is important that you start!

Have you ever had one of those huge chocolate chip cookies with a few pinches of Epson salt on top? How the salt just makes everything come to life! Is that not the most amazing combination ever?
Conclusion
Well, that is your goal, become that cookie! Over givers are way too sweet to ever be categorized as selfish, so adding a pinch of salt to your personality will be a perfect balance.
If we are all responsible for the energy we bring into the world, we can begin to create lasting change.
